Yes! you can, if you want to make it sweeter by adding more sugar, the only thing is it will take longer time to rise.

Thank you so much for the feed back, I always write that you should definitely check your oven temperature as they vary, mine is a gas one! try baking in a lower temperature or cover the tin with a kitchen foil till 30 minutes then remove the foil and bake until done! Hope this helps!

Hi swati, I am sorry for the late reply. I think you should check out for a good Instant yeast which will work fine. I have heard Gloripan is good. But please check and use. If using dry yeast leave it for 5 to 10 minutes in a little bowl with water and sugar like for 7grms add 2 tbsp water and a 1/2 tsp of sugar and see if it bubbles up. This ensures your yeast is active.

When I moved to America 20+ years ago, every time I go home, dad would buy a loaf everyday. It was my favorite thing with tea. I tried this today and it was spot on! The oven temps did vary for me. I baked it at 450 for 10mins but it started getting burnt. So I skipped your second bake. I will try it again but bake for 375 F for 20-30mins and see if that helps. Thank you for sharing the recipe.

Can you guide me for the same ? I am from India.

Chanced upon your blog while searching for Iyengar bakery bread recipe. Tried it today and it turned out awesome. My husband who is from Bangalore said it was exactly like how he remembered! Thank you so much!
